Gervonta “Tank” Davis has officially announced his retirement from boxing after 2025.

Earlier this week, the undefeated WBA lightweight champion spoke to reporters claiming, “After next year, I’m out of it. Yeah, out of this sport.” When he was asked about the decision later on he said, “Shit’s trash. This shit is trash, garbage. Fed up. I’m fed up with the whole shit.” He spoke about plans post-boxing, revealing, “I just want to be able to make money and stay out the way, that’s it. I want to be living without being seen.” At 30 years old Davis is considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He currently holds a perfect 30-0 record and 28 of those wins are by knockout.

Throughout his career, he has held titles in the featherweight and super lightweight divisions and continues to dominate at the lightweight division. While he does plan to leave in 2025, he hopes to fight three more matches before finishing his career. He is set to fight Lamont Roach, WBA super featherweight champion, on March 1. After Roach, Davis has not confirmed who he will fight next. He has previously beaten the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Léo Santa Cruz and Isaac Cruz. Some say that a rematch with Garcia might happen and potentially a fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson.
