IWC Reveals a Limited-Edition Portofino Automatic Moon Phase Timepiece for the Year of the Snake

In advance of the upcoming Lunar New Year, which is set to take place at the end of January 2025, IWC has revealed its newest timepiece in the spirit of the Year of the Snake.
Similar to the Year of the Dragon edition from 2024, the latest festive timepiece follows suit with a burgundy and gold color palette. While the previous offering is a luscious reimagining on the Portugieser Chronograph, the Year of the Snake edition is based on the Portofino model complete with a moonphase complication.
Housed in a 37mm stainless steel case, the time-teller showcases a luscious burgundy dial that’s lit up with golden embellishments — from the minute track, hour-markers, leaf-shaped hands, logos to the stars and moon.
The zodiac animal is integrated into the custom oscillating weight as a hand-engraved design, where it’ll swivel around the 32800 in-house caliber with every turn of the wrist. The movement is partly exhibited through the open sapphire caseback and is equipped with a 5-day power reserve.
In addition to the black leather strap, the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Year of the Snake edition also comes with a burgundy calfskin strap for a seamless look. Limited to 500 pieces, the timepiece is available via IWC with a price tag of $9,700 USD.
