Announced his official retirement from professional wrestling and combat sports during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show

Concluded a 25-year career following a definitive loss to Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam in his home city of Minneapolis

Confirmed that the emotional weekend solidified his decision to step away despite a previous retirement tease at WrestleMania 42

Eleven-time world champion Brock Lesnar has officially retired. The 49-year-old combat sports veteran stated he is entirely done with the squared circle and all other forms of competition. The definitive announcement arrived on The Pat McAfee Show on August 4, 2026. The declaration followed a headlining trilogy-ending clash at SummerSlam against Oba Femi. During the aftermath of their Hell in a Cell bout in his billed home city of Minneapolis, Lesnar anointed the rising star as the future of the industry while acknowledging himself as the past.

Fans initially expected a departure back in April. Lesnar laid his gloves down in the ring after taking a loss to Femi at WrestleMania 42. He ultimately returned a month later to secure a victory at Clash in Italy. That sequence set the stage for their climactic third encounter. Lesnar admitted that while he felt he had fuel in the tank following the WrestleMania bout, the grueling Saturday match in Minneapolis marked the true end of his journey.

Lesnar leaves behind a monumental legacy as one of the most dominant forces in modern combat sports history. He debuted on the main roster more than a quarter century ago. The former University of Minnesota standout quickly conquered professional wrestling before transitioning to mixed martial arts. He captured the UFC heavyweight championship in just his fourth professional fight. His second run with WWE added a grizzled dimension to his character. He famously ended The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak and stacked up multiple heavyweight titles across different global organizations. The veteran also won the King of the Ring tournament in 2002 and claimed two Royal Rumble victories over his expansive career.

The final years of his career were heavily shadowed by legal controversy. The wrestler was recently explicitly named in a sex trafficking lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against former chairman Vince McMahon. Despite a two-year absence from television amid the allegations, he eventually returned for this final program.

Moving forward, the former champion plans to leave the spotlight behind. He expressed immense gratitude to WWE, TKO, the UFC and the Minnesota Vikings. Lesnar noted his immediate plans involve hunting and spending quality time with his family. He intends to actively support his sons in their hockey pursuits and guide his daughter as she eyes a spot in the 2028 Olympics.
