Timex to Release a $1 Watch for Its 170th Anniversary
Limited to 1,000 examples.
In celebrating its 170th anniversary, Timex announced that it will be releasing a new limited-edition Waterbury wristwatch. The hot take? The watch will retail for $1 USD as a homage to the brand’s original Yankee pocket watch, which also retailed for a dollar back in 1854.
In terms of appearance, specs and quality, this one-dollar edition is by no means inferior to Timex’s standard Waterbury model, which usually retails for $119 USD a piece. Housed in a 40mm brushed and polished stainless-steel case, the reference is paired with an ice-white dial, adorned with elegant 3D lacquered Roman numerals.
To commemorate Timex’s 170th anniversary, the watch features a specially engraved caseback, inscribed with “A TRUE AMERICAN ICON” alongside the passage that reads, “This watch celebrates simply great watchmaking since 1854.”
Limited to 1,000 examples, the timepiece will be available to purchase via Timex’s official website starting November 16, 10 a.m. EST.
