Lil Wayne Earns Second Diamond Certification With 2013 Drake and Future Collab "Love Me"
The New Orleans-native rapper’s second Diamond plaque since his hit “Lollipop” was awarded in 2022.
Lil Wayne is receiving his second RIAA Diamond Certification for his 11-year-old track featuring Drake and Future “Love Me.” Diamond certifications are awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for songs and albums that sell more than 10 million units. The rap legend was awarded his first Diamond plaque for the 2008 hit “Lollipop” in 2022.
The New Orleans-native rapper recently expressed disappointment at not being enlisted 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will take place in his hometown. Opening up about the situation in a somber tone via Instagram, Wayne said “It broke me.” The rapper was met with overflowing support from fans, fellow rappers, and his camp, reassuring him of his foundational role in building modern hip-hop.
The big news reaffirms the rapper’s iconic status as a hip-hop legend despite the snub from the Super Bowl program. Wayne came into the scene as a teen rapper with Louisiana-based group The Hot Boys and moved on to nurture a successful solo career with projects like Tha Carter and Tha Carter II in the early aughts. The rapper ultimately established his own empire with record label Young Money Entertainment, which gave rise to hip-hop stars like Nicki Minaj and Drake.
For the rapper’s 2024 Lil Weezyana Fest, the Hot Boys will be reuniting for a group set on November 2 at the New Orleans Smoothie King Center.
