"The Caliphate" is a Captivating Group Effort by The Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt and Vince Staples
With ‘Voir Dire’ hitting streaming soon as well.
After announcing their Voir Dire U.S. tour earlier this week, The Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt are back with more good news. Not only is Voir Dire landing on Spotify next month, but the duo also dropped off a new single “The Caliphate” which features Vince Staples.
“The Caliphate” sees each artist on their most masterful form, honing in on what they do best; The Alchemist offers up a smooth, ethereally-produced track as the California rappers exchange provocative bars and feed off the communal energy.
“If you hit the county you bettеr hold it down / Grab the bounty, left him on Downey screamin’ on the ground / Cup runnin’ over, son of Ramona, her poster child / The coast is clear, they wanna act La Cosa Nostra now,” Staples spits on the second verse.
In “The Caliphate”‘s black-and-white music video, the three artists are posted up in a serene greenhouse, as Sweatshirt and Staples deliver their bars directly to the camera. Check it out in the gallery above.
Sweatshirt shared in an Instagram post that Voir Dire will finally hit streaming in a few weeks, writing: “dsp release 4 your teary-eyed selves on 10/6 leave me #alone respect pls consider not speaking to me or my son ever again #love.” The rapper also revealed each track’s respective cover art, with “The Caliphate” listed as the tenth song on the album.

“The Caliphate” is available to stream now on Spotify and Apple Music (!!), though Voir Dire still remains solely available on Gala Music until October 6. The album’s third cut “SENTRY” featuring MIKE is also available on streaming platforms now.
