Check Out the Trailer for Nintendo's Remake of 'Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'
The original RPG made its debut on the GameCube in 2004.
Nintendo will be updating one of its older Super Mario games for the Nintendo Switch. The company is working on a revamp of 2004’s Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door to release for the console sometime next year.
Originally designed for the GameCub, Paper Mario is an RPG that follows Mario on a quest to collect even Crystal Stars before the X-Nauts, with the goal of ultimately unlocking the Thousand-Year Door to access the treasure behind it. Along the way, he’s joined by seven different characters, each of whom boasts their own unique abilities.
In a trailer shared by Nintendo, the updated version offers a look at the bright, modern graphics, adding a new dimension to the paper world. While Mario himself still appears at 2D, he’s now able to explore the vivid 3D environments that make up the game’s seven different landscapes.
