Nike Unveils Three HBCU-Themed Terminator Highs
Celebrating Spelman College, Alabama A&M and Tuskegee University.

Returning to shelves last year, Nike has kept the Terminator High in the conversation with a consistent output of unique takes on the model. From its classic collegiate colorways to a COMME des GARÇONS collaboration, the Swoosh has not slowed down. Earlier this week, Nike presented a colorway paying homage to Slim & Husky’s Pizza — who’s founders attended Tennessee State University. The brand is continuing to nod to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with the introduction of pairs honoring Spelman College, Alabama A&M and Tuskegee University.
Leading off with the Spelman College-themed pair, it features a gray and light blue color scheme that utilizes a combination of a leather base with hairy suede overlays. Additional nods to the school include its logo at the tongue, a callout to its founding year of 1881 at the lateral, jaguar paw prints at the sockliner and translucent outsole and a reference to Spelman’s Hymn with the heel’s “Thy Name We Praise” note.
Pivoting to the design prepared for Alabama A&M, maroon, white and gray combine at the upper with a gum outsole supporting the sole unit and a soft yellow hitting the heel branding and founding year detail. Its mascot — the Bulldog — is positioned at the tongue while its logo is subtly textured around the heel in a white-on-white finish.
For Tuskegee University, a color scheme reminiscent of Teyana Taylor’s Air Jordan 1 High Zoom CMFT 2 appears with an off-white leather base resting beneath red leather overlays while the black Swoosh features a tiger pattern in red with yellow accenting the Swoosh stitching, laces and the heel’s embroidered “Tuskegee Institute” script. Its tongue sees the school’s Golden Tiger mascot positioned in front of the “TU” lettering while a debossed “1881” hit can be spotted at the lateral. Lastly, the sockliner depicts its football field — the recently-renovated Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
At the time of writing, Nike has yet to disclose any release details regarding these three HBCU-themed Terminator High colorways. Look for all three pairs to touch down on shelves in the coming weeks via Nike and select retailers at a price of $135 USD each.
