Over forty years after its debut, the Nike Air Force 1 remains as unpredictable as ever. The beloved sneaker has enjoyed a historic run in its time on shelves and Nike designers continue to demonstrate that they have more tricks up their sleeves. Following the reveal of a GORE-TEX-equipped “Hangul Day” colorway and the new outdoor-oriented Air Force 1 Wild silhouette, the Air Force 1 Low has been revealed with a new protective gaiter element.

The Air Max Scorpion rocked a gaiter earlier this year and now the approach has been employed on the Air Force 1 Low. Our limited preview of the gaiter highlights its weather-resistant build in olive sporting brown-green branding elements served up in oversized Swoosh and mountain logo form. Teal heel branding matches the Nike Air embroidery found on the shoe itself while a mustard bottom and black toggle cord rounds out the removable layer. Looking at the AF1 it covers, black hooks have been added to the upper for the gaiter to latch onto. The winterized version of the sneaker features the aforementioned olive and mustard with a golden brown also joining at both the upper and the rubber outsole that rests beneath the all-white midsole.

At the time of writing, no release info regarding this gaiter-equipped version of the Nike Air Force 1 Low has been shared. Stay tuned for updates as we expect it to touch down on shelves by the end of the year via Nike and select retailers.
