Netflix has officially released the teaser trailer for the first part of Zack Snyder‘s epic sci-fi film. The first part, which is titled A Child of Fire, lands on the streamer at the end of the year.

The sci-fi epic follows the story of a young woman named Kora who is played by Sofia Boutella, who is on a mission to search for fighters to help fight off an impending invasion by rule Regent Balisarius, who is played by Fra Free. In the official plot description Netflix shares,

“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”

The trailer gives fans a first look at the sci-fi fantasy imagery by Zack Snyder. It features the imaginable features like spaceships, lasers, and talking robots. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Cleopatra Coleman, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Sky Yang and more. Initially, Snyder developed the project as a pitch for a story in the Star Wars universe. Snyder shares that the project is inspired by his love for Star Wars and Akira Kurosawa films. Watch the trailer above.
