Shoe Palace and New Balance Collaborate on San Francisco-Inspired 2002R
Celebrating the retailer’s 30th anniversary.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Shoe Palace has teamed up with New Balance to drop a San Francisco-inspired 2002R — a sneaker that takes inspiration from the city’s memorable views of the ocean.
The silhouette has become ultra-popular for both inline releases and collaborations with names like BEAMS, The Basement, DTLR and more.
Shoe Palace’s 2002R draws on the Bay Area’s coastline, with the upper representing its rocky terrain and the various laces nodding to the ocean and tints of the Golden Gate Bridge. Other details, like the shoe’s green insoles are inspired by the area’s eucalyptus trees, with the labyrinth-like pattern representing a destination point at the lookout. Shoe Palace expressed that “The natural colors from the coast from rocky cliffs above the ocean to the shady stands of cypress and eucalyptus trees, to the secret labyrinth; inspired us to design a capsule to pay homage to our beautiful surrounding.”
The Shoe Palace x New Balance 2002R is slated to launch August 2.
In related footwear news, New Balance presents “Cybernetics Blue,” a futuristic 2002R.
