Formula 1 has announced its 2024 calendar for the FIA Formula One World Championship, as approved by the World Motor Sport Council. This next year will feature 24 races, the first of which take place on Saturdays, as well as greater “regionalisation” considerations.

The new calendar aims to promote a better flow of races in specific regions, with F1 stating that “moving Japan to April, Azerbaijan to September and Qatar back-to-back with Abu Dhabi,” will result in the reduction of logistical burdens and make the season more sustainable.

Notable changes to next year’s races include the first appearance of China since 2019 and two Saturday races to kick the Championship off — the first time since 1985 that the races will not start on a Sunday.

“I am delighted to announce the 2024 calendar with 24 races that will deliver an exciting season for our fans around the world. There is huge interest and continued demand for Formula 1, and I believe this calendar strikes the right balance between traditional races and new and existing venues,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
