Apapacho World's Sustainable Pottery is Made With Traditional Hand-Building Techniques
The Mexico City-based brand also uses all local materials sourced from the Earth.
Apapacho World, a design brand based in Mexico City, has crafted a line of pottery designed to celebrate Mexico’s rich cultural heritage. Each piece is constructed out of raw materials sourced from the Earth, including clay, onyx, marble, and volcanic rock.
With its work, the designers behind Apapacho World aim to blend contemporary design with traditional techniques. The result is an assemblage of natural brown-hued curvy vases, along with an incense holder.
Farsh Kanji, a co-founder of the brand, mocks pieces up either by drawing or 3D modeling. He then collaborates with artisans to create their shapes with hand-building methods, a process that is also carried out using local materials such as beeswax.
In addition to all-natural materials, all of Apapacho World’s creations come in biodegradable packaging
“In addition to fair wages, we bring seeds, and exchange information on farming, conserving water, and having conversations on how we can help to preserve this ancient craft in the Mixteca region,” says co-founder Diana Campos, who also runs a biodynamic farm.
