Glenn Martens is all about evolution when it comes to his Diesel collections. The ethos is carried over for his Resort 2024 collection, creating looks that are fluid and for every-gender. In his past shows, specifically the Fall/Winter 2023 show in February, Martens emphasized sex through the lens of Diesel.

This season, the brand appears to focus on a simplified iteration of the classic pillars of Diesel — denim, utility and pop. Staying true to the mantra every season, Marten’s design efforts from the runway have made its way to everyday wardrobe staples. Resort 2024 offered a more wearable and desirable collection, featuring metallic coating on denim and shirts, while also embracing the mismatching of fabrics and Martens’ classic distressed and tromp l’oeil effects.

The collection, albeit featuring simpler and more standard silhouettes that seem to place comfort and versatility at the forefront, are still consistent with Diesel’s core themes. The reflective treatment is seen applied to an array of apparel items including no-fuss sweatshirts, knit dresses and various types of denim pants. Denim jeans arrive in vibrant colors including yellow, stonewashed to reveal another pop of color beneath. Other garments seem to have undergone an oxidation or blow-torched treatment to give a different texture to otherwise regular closet pieces. The collection had a utilitarian focus, with baggy cargo pants, mutli-pocketed jackets, track pants, camouflage prints as well as double-layered intarsia knits and soft tailoring pairing cool wool for menswear options. There is also a major highlight on heavy-duty denim jackets.
