Summary

  • Glenn Martens is stepping down as Diesel’s Creative Director after his SS27 Milan show, ending a transformative six-year tenure.

  • Martens will remain creative head of Maison Margiela under parent company OTB Group; no replacement for Diesel is announced yet.

Glenn Martens’ six-year run as Creative Director of Italian denim label Diesel will conclude after his SS27 runway presentation, scheduled for September 22 at Milan Fashion Week. The news brings to a close a fruitful tenure from Martens, which injected the 1978-born brand with renewed vitality.

Formerly known for Y/Project until 2024, Martens joined Diesel in 2020, updating the brand’s appeal for a new generation of shoppers with his cutting-edge aesthetic and inventive approach. Diesel founder and OTB Chairman Renzo Rosso said that Martens “brought Diesel back to the centre of the global fashion conversation while preserving the openness, energy and accessibility that have always distinguished us,” in an official statement. “We are deeply grateful for everything he has achieved,” he continued.

Announced by the Diesel owner this Friday, OTB Group was sure to note that Martens won’t be leaving the conglomerate entirely, confirming that he would remain the creative head of Maison Margiela. Martens took up the highly-regarded role, formerly held by John Galliano, in 2025 and received consistent praise for his continued commitment to Margiela’s creative ethos.

As of the time of writing, Diesel has not announced an official replacement for Martens.
