Yohji Yamamoto‘s Y-3 continues to present footwear that questions the norm — just take a look at its version of running sneakers if you need a reminder. Now, it returns to a Three Stripe staple, the Y-3 UltraBOOST 22, just in time for summer.
First appearing in January 2022, the Y-3 UltraBOOST 22 has arrived in various renditions that have often reminded us of the seminal Y-3 Qasa silhouette. That’s because the pair’s signature PRIMEKNIT upper is not immediately visible, instead using a stretch nylon fabric to cover the majority of the shoe’s upper like avant-garde bandages.
From there, Y-3 applies everything from side-wall bumpers at the front to three-dimensional polyurethane on the Y-3-branded tongue, as well as another pull tag on the heel that sits alongside a creamy heel clip. For this pair, a palette of “Core White/Cream White” consumes the design, while a flash of black and orange can be found on the Continental outsole that lines the full-length BOOST midsole.
Y-3’s UltraBOOST 22 in “Core White/Cream White” retails for £250/$315 USD and is available for adiClub early access members only now.
