Shortly after discussing plans to retire his stage name next album, The Weeknd has now changed his social media to his birth name, Abel Tesfaye. Hinting towards the arrival of a new project, The Weeknd updated the account names on both his Twitter and Instagram.

In his recent W magazine cover story, the Canadian superstar shared plans to enter the next phase in his musical career. Noting that the move would include him leaving his “The Weeknd” persona behind and moving forth as “Abel Tesfaye.”

“It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter,” said the artist. “I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”

Despite Abel’s account name changes, his handles still use “theweeknd” and his website remains unchanged.

In case you missed it, Kid Cudi teases Playboi Carti “Solo Dolo, Pt. IV” collaboration that won’t be on his new album.
