norda Reveals New 002 Silhouette, the "World's Most Responsive Trail Running Shoe"
Featuring bio-based Dyneema uppers, Vibram midsoles and outsoles and more ultra-advanced tech.
norda has revealed its second sneaker: the 002, a design billed as “the world’s most responsive trail running shoe.” Based in Montreal, norda burst onto the market with their first silhouette, the 001, in August 2021, and have since released it in a plethora of in-line colorways as well as collabs with the likes of Zegna, Satisfy and Ciele. Now, the 002 is set to continue norda’s mission to make the world’s best trail running sneakers by taking the 001’s ultra high-tech fabrication and combining it with new insights and information.
The 002 features an upper made from proprietary bio-based Dyneema fabric, a synthetic textile that’s twice as strong as Kevlar but weighs half as much. Down below, there’s a Vibram SLE midsole and an outsole that uses Vibram’s Litebase and Megagrip technologies to both cut weight and provide exemplary grip. These technologies were also put into use on the 001, but they’re applied differently here: the 002’s midsole features a lower stack height for enhanced ground feel and a new geometry that was designed to increase stability. The 002 does away with the heel tab found on the 001, and also adds extra padding around the collar for enhanced comfort. From a looks standpoint, the key embellishments are swooping lines that appear to be inspired by topographical maps, while small norda hits can be seen on the lateral midfoot and the heel tab.
Hypebeast spoke to norda co-founders Nick Martire and Louis-Martin Tremblay at length in October 2022, and during the conversation Martire offered a brief glimpse at the 002, stating that it was the “evolution of norda’s mission to push the limits of high performance and sustainability,” actualized through the progression of the company’s familiar bio-based Dyneema upper plus an exclusive midsole that norda designed in tandem with Vibram.
A release date for the norda 002 has yet to be announced, as does a full breakdown of its tech specs, but the brand has indicated that it’ll be “coming soon” and that email subscribers will be notified first. When it does release on the norda webstore, it’ll be priced at $295 USD.
