Junya Watanabe MAN Unveils a "Wheat" New Balance Rainier
Hit with minimal co-branding on the spine.
Having presented a line of impressive collaborations with New Balance as part of its Fall/Winter 2023 showcase in January, Junya Watanabe MAN has just dropped its own interpretation of New Balance’s outdoor-ready Rainier silhouette.
It’s no secret that Junya Watanabe MAN is all for collaboration. Recently, the Japanese brand has shown its versatility across a number of link-ups, with recent highlights coming in the form of the punk-inspired Stepney Workers Club slip-on and the technically-focused and futuristic collaboration with Oakley Factory Team. Now, Junya Watanabe MAN’s latest footwear installment sees the label expand its footwear offering even more with an earthy, exploration-inclined design that’s made life in the great outdoors.
The design starts with a solid construction that merges different fabrications of leather, suede, and textile, while paneled detailing is used across the upper that is hit with hues of brown and “Wheat.” Co-branding is kept minimal throughout the aesthetic, with the only speckles being featured on the spine. The sole units on the underfoot continue to remain true to the model’s blueprint, as comfortable EVA foam sits alongside grippy Vibram rubber traction to round off the design.
You can take a closer look at the new Junya Watanabe MAN x New Balance Rainier above and it is available to shop via select retailers now, while an official launch on the New Balance website is expected to come soon.
