eYe JUNYA WATANABE MAN and MAMMUT have joined forces on a capsule collection that filters Swiss alpine heritage through Junya Watanabe‘s design language. The lineup is tightly edited, six jackets and a single backpack, with each piece reinterpreting technical outerwear discovered in MAMMUT’s archive.
The jackets form the heart of the collection, and they balance genuine mountain function with a fashion-forward sensibility. Leading the group is a Ventile jacket fitted with a detachable hood, a nod to the weatherproofing pedigree the fabric is known for. Alongside it sits an insulated jacket carrying Junya Watanabe’s signature patchwork detailing, one of the clearest points where his reconstruction approach meets MAMMUT’s technical foundation.
The collection’s most premium entry is an eiderdown jacket, built around one of nature’s rarest and most sought-after insulations and paired with a refined, contemporary cut. Across all six styles, the designer revisits familiar technical silhouettes through elevated material choices and considered detailing rather than straightforward archival reissues, transforming MAMMUT’s original product codes into a run of contemporary menswear.
Rounding out the capsule is a minimalist backpack that leans into the mountaineering references more playfully. It features a rope-inspired handle and a small MAMMUT mascot clipped on via a climbing carabiner, tying the accessory back to the brand’s alpine roots without overloading the design. As Junya Watanabe described the brief, the goal was to combine “the craftmanship and elegance of eYe JUNYA WATANABE MAN with the genuine alpine expertise and technical innovation of MAMMUT.” The overall result is pitched at wearers who move between city life and outdoor pursuits rather than pure technical mountain use.
The eYe JUNYA WATANABE MAN x MAMMUT collection launches globally on September 24 via selected MAMMUT’s channels and premium retail partners.
