Holloway Li Launches Liquorice-Like Version of its "T4" Chair
Another 90s nostalgia trip.

Following the resounding success of its first collection of T4 chairs, London design studio Holloway Li has released a shiny black version titled “Liquorice”.
Debuted at the Alcova exhibition, which took place during this year’s Milan Design Week, Liquorice was presented in a site-specific installation that brought together the studio’s retrofuturist vision. Its soft curves and shiny black shell made for a stark contrast against the somewhat Brutalist backdrop of the Alcova location, which is located in the eastern part of the city, in the Ex-Macello di Porta Vittoria – a former slaughterhouse.
As with the previous versions, the chair’s shell frame has been crafted from composites more typically found in the automotive industry, with its form taking cues from 90s memorabilia such as lava lamps and inflatable chairs.
“It’s a hugely exciting milestone for us as a studio – unveiling our first European installation in Milan with our friends at Uma for Alcova’s 2023 edition,” said co-founders Alex Holloway and Na Li. “Our work is rooted in storytelling and it’s a real pleasure to welcome visitors from across the globe to
embark on a journey back to the 90s.”
The Liquorice chair will be released in a limited edition run and will be produced by Turkish fabricator Uma, which was also behind the first collection.
