“There’s one model that was never released as a Type R; the S2000. Until now.” Those are the words of Evasive Motorsports, a California-based modification unit that has a penchant for tuning your favorite JDM cars, such as the Honda S2000.

Now, it reveals a car of many a petrolhead’s dreams: the Honda S2000 R. Using a Honda Civic Type R FK8s two-liter turbo engine, the restomodded S2 comes with 302 BHP, making for a considerable increase over the stock car’s 237 BHP output. It’s still rear-wheel-drive, living up to the tuning company’s wish of wanting the “S2000R to be fun.”

To ensure optimum fun and driveability, Evasive Motorsports adds a carbon fiber Mugen air intake, a custom intake manifold, a titanium exhaust system from Origin Fab, a MoTeC ECU, a Koyo Racing radiator, and of course, a six-speed manual hooked up with a limited-slip differential.

Underpinning the S2000 R are KW Clubsport coilovers, Eibach anti-roll bars, new suspension bushings, and a new chassis brace. For the full Type-R aesthetic, the car has been given a “Championship White” paint job per Type-R traditions, a considerable rear wing that adds downforce to keep the rear for being too wild, a new front fascia with a custom front lip and a “20th Anniversary Edition” bumper, as well as wider front arches, a carbon fiber hood and boot lid to bring the weight down, and wing mirrors from the tuning company Spoon.

Alcantara decks the dash before lashings of carbon are added to the door cards and once more on the Recaro seats, while rounding out the visual tweaks is a new set of 18” “Championship White” rims that hide Brembo brakes behind.
