LEGO 'Star Wars' Reveals A New UCS X-Wing Starfighter
The third of its kind, the legendary ship is built with 1,949 pieces.

When it comes to LEGO Star Wars, its Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) line is the pinnacle of display sets. In its 23 year run thus far, UCS sets have ranged from monstrous vehicles such as the AT-AT to a bust of Darth Maul. Back in the year 2000, it all began with the iconic X-Wing, launching alongside its TIE Interceptor opposition as the first LEGO UCS kits. Arriving with 1,300 pieces, it was later modernized with new techniques and parts in 2013 with the introduction of the UCS Red Five X-Wing Starfighter that totaled at 1,559 pieces.
Now, LEGO has unveiled its third UCS X-Wing Starfighter — appearing with its most detailed build of the ship to date, clocking in at 1,949 pieces. Launching as the annual May the 4th UCS set, it debuts a new printed plaque piece that replaces the previous hassle of aligning a sticker properly. The ship itself comes with a dial for adjusting the wings, measures over 21 inches in length, rests upon an old-school stand style and recreates the magic of Lucasfilm’s timeless design. Adding to the fun, a brand new Luke Skywalker minifigure sees him dressed in his pilot outfit and adorned with dual-molded legs, arm printing and a true-to-character look. An R2-D2 figure also makes a fitting appearance with a slot in the ship for him to rest comfortably.
For those interested in picking up this set, its official release is scheduled to take place via LEGO on May 4 at a price of $240 USD. However, it’s possible to grab this set early starting May 1 if you’re part of the brand’s free VIP loyalty program.

In case you missed it, Darth Vader’s Executor Super Star Destroyer is returning to shelves in a much smaller form than its UCS predecessor in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
