Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App, was fatally stabbed on a San Francisco street on Tuesday.

The city’s police department reported that they had responded to a call regarding a stabbing that had taken place around 2:35 A.M. in the Rincon Hill neighborhood. The 43-year-old victim, unidentified at the time, passed away at the hospital from his injuries.

Lee’s family confirmed that he was the victim on Wednesday morning, sharing the tragic news on social media.

Lee had founded the payment service app Cash App in 2013 under Jack Dorsey’s company Square – at the time, called Block – while serving as its CTO.

Presently, Lee was serving as the Chief Product Officer of the cryptocurrency startup MobileCoin and advising other startups in the tech and finance space.

An investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. The San Francisco district attorney confirmed on Wednesday morning that no arrests have been made as of yet.
