HAL STUDIOS® — a product-geared arm of Australian boutique Highs and Lows that’s “dedicated to the examination of design concepts” — created one of the most desirable ASICS collaborations of 2022 with their GEL-1130 “FOREST,” a shoe that was only available for 48 hours through an “Advance Order” platform. However, sneaker lovers will get a second shot at the shoes this month. HAL STUDIOS® has announced that the “FOREST” will be re-released, and this time around the drop’s a global one.

Inspired by an ethos of “maximal minimalism,” the “FOREST” draws attention away from the GEL-1130’s key performance characteristics, instead focusing on its branded embellishments and shape by adding contrasting textures, tones and details. The most notable of these, of course, are the enormous suede Tiger Stripes on the lateral and medial midfoot, but further detail is supplied by hits of brown leather, custom branding on the heel tab and striking hits of orange that can be seen on both the heel’s visible GEL cushioning and the insoles.

Release-wise, there’s no “Advance Order” platform for this drop. Instead, HAL STUDIOS® is hosting a “Wellness Oasis” pop-up store in Tokyo on April 15 and 16, at which the shoes will be available alongside custom-blended coffee from DoubleDouble and a bespoke incense from Cremate. After the pop-up, the shoes will hit the HAL STUDIOS® webstore April 18, then touch down on the ASICS website and global ASICS stockists later in the month.
