PUMA has teamed up with streetwear label STAPLE for a new collaboration, this time focusing on a footwear and apparel collection inspired by Gidra, an Asian-American student-run newspaper created in response to anti-Asian sentiment in 1969. In light of all that Stop AAPI Hate, the collection wants to draw attention to the positive creative force within the Asian American community.

Paying tribute to the Gidra, each of the pieces reflects the intention and art style of the original publication’s design elements and references the Godzilla-inspired King Terror Pack from PUMA’s archives. The first installment in the collection dropped in early March and now, the second drop of the collection arrives for the end of the month.

The second drop includes three sets of sneakers in an assortment of apparel, including T-shirts, a hoodie, anorak jackets and pants. Two PUMA Suedes are rendered in yellow as a nod to King Ghidorah while another one is in black and grey and invokes a third Slipstream style in white, grey and yellow. In a statement regarding this collection, Jeff Staple says, “I’ve always loved how design is a blank canvas to tell the stories that matter the most. Working with PUMA and Mike Murase of Gidra was a unique way to share this influential publication from the 1960s and connect it to the present-day movement to help Stop AAPI Hate. We’re stronger when we stand together.”

The PUMA x Staple collection arrives on March 31.
