Gear Up for Warmer Months With the Nike ACG Watercat+ "Court Purple"
Originally introduced in ‘06, the water-ready kicks are returning just in time for the spring and summer seasons.
Nike and its ACG label tend to proffer obscure silhouettes that are built for functionality. In 2006, the Swoosh’s outdoor-focused division introduced the Nike ACG Watercat+ — a hyper-breathable model that was formed with woven uppers and meant for use in the water. Fast forward 17 years later, the offering is slated to make its return to the shelves, and this “Court Purple” colorway will be leading the charge.
One can compare this to a product to silhouettes like the KEEN Uneek just by looking at its upper constructions. For this modernized variation, Nike designers swapped out the original textile ribbons for a bungee cord-esque pattern and incorporate leather panels around the throat and mudguards. Up top, everything from the woven materials to the textured footbeds to the rubber heel counters has been splashed with its titular hue. ACG hits are distributed to the heels and the lateral sides of the midsole pieces, the latter of which rests alongside a lilac backdrop. Down below, the rubber treading has been designed with a two-toned motif and features hexagon-shaped traction.
Whether you need a new pair for the warm summer days or a functional option for your next beach vacation, be on the lookout for Nike and select retailers to release these in the coming months for $125 USD.
