Lil Nas X's Coach Collection Is Personal, Adorable and Electric
The ‘MONTERO’ rapper has curated and customized a special capsule of ready-to-wear and accessories designed by the New York fashion house.
Coach is taking the Old Town Road this Winter 2023, offering up an all-new capsule collection curated by Lil Nas X. Titled “The Lil Nas X Drop,” the edit features a slew of cozy ready-to-wear pieces and vibrant accessories that were “hand-picked and customized” by the rapper, who is a global ambassador for the brand.
The collection makes nods to Lil Nas X’s signature bold tropes with an electric color scheme that’s certainly worth a double take. Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers collaborated with the MONTERO singer to customize his Winter 2023 selections with graphics inspired by all facets of the artist’s identity. Lil Nas X’s concert merch illustrations appear on bags, while his pet cats and his zodiac sign (Aries) are patched onto an American varsity jacket. Leather biker and shearling coats, meanwhile, complement acidic sweatshirts and T-shirts that look to “evoke rave culture.”
“Our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are,” said Vevers. “To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying color, texture and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share.”
The collection’s campaign, which was creative-directed by Lil Nas X, sees the artist posing in a number of Y2K-inspired visuals. The Lil Nas X Drop will be available to shop on December 26 via Coach’s webstore. Take a look at the range in the gallery above.
