Kirsten Stewart Stars as a Bodybuilding Gym Manager in a24's 'Love Lies Bleeding'

Kirsten Stewart stars as a quiet and reclusive gym manager in A24’s latest drama. Directed by Rose Glass, best known for the 2019 horror flick Saint Maud, Love Lies Bleeding centers on a small-town bodybuilding manager Lou and the bisexual, ambitious bodybuilder Jackie, portrayed by Katy O’Brian.
Amid Jackie’s dreams of competing in Las Vegas, the two begin forming a relationship but find themselves chased by the criminal past of Lou’s family. Amid working out and Jackie’s new gig at a gun store, the FBI appears to be centering in on Lou’s seemingly estranged father (Ed Harris).
Alongside Stewart and O’Brian, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco and Jena Malone round out the main cast.
“I’m going to tell them everything you did,” Lou tells her father over the phone. “Are you threatening me?,” he responds.
Stewart signed on to the film early last year. Filming for the project began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in June 2022 and wrapped just two months later. Love Lies Bleeding will receive a world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival next month.
