While the world still remains in a collective iPhone 15 haze, Apple has already readied its newest offering for iPad users. The entry-level Apple Pencil comes at a more affordable retail price, while still boasting pixel-perfect accuracy, low latency and tilt sensitivity.

Crafted with a matte finish and a flat side that magnetically attaches to the side of the iPad for storage, the new Apple Pencil boasts a discreet USB-C charging port on the side; hidden by a sliding cap, the USB-C charging feature makes the new Pencil compatible with all iPad models that allow USB-C charging, including the iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPad mini. When magnetically attached to the iPad, the Pencil enters into a sleep state to preserve the battery.

“Apple Pencil has revolutionized note-taking, sketching, and illustrating, unleashing endless possibilities for productivity and creativity,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Combined with the versatility of iPad, the new Apple Pencil unlocks another great option to experience the magic of digital handwriting, annotation, marking up documents, and more.”

Though the new Pencil model doesn’t support pressure sensitivity, wireless pairing and charging, or the double-tap feature that lets users toggle between tools – all features that are only available on the first and second generation Apple Pencils.

The new Apple Pencil retails for $79 USD and is slated to go live for purchase in early November.
