Apollinaria Broche's BUN BUN the Rabbit Arrives for Acne Studios' Chinese New Year Capsule
The protagonist appears as enamel sculptures, necklaces, and earrings, and is printed across garments and homeware.
Acne Studios is one of the most joyous brands in the luxury market, never shying away from provocation, twisting traditions, or stepping back in time for an irreverent splash of nostalgia. Its ability to have fun is what makes the Swedish House loved in the fashion community, and now it applies its effervescence to a Chinese New Year-celebrating capsule collection designed in collaboration with the artist Apollinaria Broche.
Having worked together before on the House’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection, the two combine again to create a collection centered around the Year of the Rabbit. Its protagonist is BUN BUN, a friendly character “who can’t help but put a big smile on everyone’s face thanks to its big ears and endearing eyes.”
Broche’s creation comes to life as a sculpture, crafted from enamel in a variety of poses and scenarios depicting the rabbit’s joy — notably, jumping out of the signature Acne Studios Musubi Bag, as if it were a magician’s hat. This attitude is echoed throughout a small but well-considered clothing and accessories collection, which includes charming numbers like the enamel heavy-set pendant and matching silver hoop drop earring, the winter warmer that is a knitted blanket in blush pink sporting a BUN BUN graphic, and a few exclusive garments — however, much of what you see in the campaign is from Acne Studios’ SS23 collection.
