Jeep Unveils Plans To Bring Four New EV Models to the Market by 2025
Announcing its roll-out phases for the next generation of 4xe vehicles.
As the push towards going all-electric becomes more apparent, Jeep has revealed plans to launch four new models of electric SUVs in North America by 2025. Amongst the new models include the luxurious Grand Wagoneer and the Wrangler-inspired off-road car, the Recon.
Jeep has outlined an aggressive electric vehicle plan to launch itself into becoming North America’s quintessential SUV brand in the new age. The parent company, Stellantis, revealed that it hopes that half of its U.S. sales and all its European sales, be from all-electric vehicles by 2030. Jeep has confirmed that the new EV models are slated to be additions to the current brand’s lineup of cars, nut not replacements for current models. In a press statement, Jeep CEO Christian Meunier said, “Our goal is very clear: Become the global leader in SUV electrification.”
The Recon is labeled as a “brother” to the Wrangler, while the “S” also known as the electric Grand Wagoneer is expected to go into production in 2024. A smaller SUV by the name of the Avenger, and is considered the brand’s entry-level Jeep Renegade. Currently, Jeep offers plug-in hybrid electric versions of the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. The vehicles are able to travel all-electric until an internal combustion engine kicks in to power the vehicle. All the 4×4 electric models are also identified with a badged “4xe.”
Jeep’s overall electrification strategy includes investing $30.1 billion USD to support electric vehicle technologies through 2025. The company is expected to have 55 electrified vehicles in the U.S. and Europe by 2025, specifically, 40 all-electric models and 15 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
