Lizzo Releases Music Video for “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”
From her fourth studio album, ‘Special.’
Today, Lizzo released the music video for her track “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” from her latest studio album, Special.
The uplifting song discusses the anxiety and questions that surround love and learning how to accept the love that one deserves. “Yesterday, I would have run away/And I don’t know why/I don’t know why (to be loved), know why (to be loved)/(Am I ready?)/Yesterday, I would have run away/And I don’t why (did you know?)/I don’t know why, but I’m ready,” sings Lizzo.
With a reference to her “Truth Hurts” music video, the visual starts out with Lizzo approaching the altar but quickly flees due to feelings of doubt and confusion. After driving along a desert road after leaving the wedding, the musician is eventually saved by her love (played by Tyson Beckford) before celebrating and dancing with her bridesmaids in the desert.
This past May, it was announced that Lizzo is receiving a documentary on HBO Max. Although the title is yet to be released, the project that chronicles the Grammy-winning artist’s rise is set to release this fall.
