Meek Mill Leaves JAY-Z's Roc Nation Management
After 10 years.
Meek Mill has split from JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation Management, according to sources via Billboard.
The Philadelphia rapper, who has operated under Roc Nation’s management since 2012, does not appear on the company’s website and has been wiped from their official social media accounts. Notably, Mill has a joint venture deal with Roc Nation, which dates back to 2019, for his Dreamchasers label. Additionally, the chart-topper launched the Reform Alliance, a non-profit combating unjust sentencing law in the United States, with JAY-Z, following his indictment in 2018.
In recent years, however, Mill has voiced his frustrations with his management. Following the debut of his latest record, Expensive Pain, earlier this year, Mill took to Twitter to air his grievances with Roc Nation and his label, Atlantic Records.
“They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions. How would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies ‘I don’t,’” he wrote, adding that the label tarnished his relationship with Roddy Ricch. “I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them r*pe me out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail… Roddy my youngin still …. But that label separated us instantly when the millions came in from him.”
Representatives for Meek and Roc Nation have not commented on the news.
