Social Status Heads to Recess With Its Upcoming Nike Air Max Penny 1 Collection

After ushering in his third installment with Jordan Brand in the A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 2, James Whitner is shifting his efforts back to his initiatives with Social Status to officially announce its forthcoming Nike Air Max Penny 1 collaboration.

Official details have yet to surface, but we do know that there will be two colorways in the capsule: the “Black” makeup and the “Desert Sand” iteration. The initial campaign images are set in a classroom setting, and when Social Status announced the kicks, it captioned the post “See you at Recess”. There’s an overt nod to school-related initiatives here and while we don’t know the exact story behind these yet, there are certain details about the shoes that can allow us to interpret their purpose. For example, the shoes are packaged with interchangeable Swooshes that are styled to represent various sports such as baseball, basketball, tennis and more, and this can potentially nod to the importance of being active. Additionally, the insoles and shoe boxes are fitted with chalkboard-inspired text, and this likely speaks to the significance of getting your education, but this has yet to be confirmed.
