Nike Brings "Midnight Navy" Back to the Air Trainer 1
Celebrating 35 years since the silhouette’s debut.

For Nike, the Air Trainer 1 has made a strong return this year. With the re-release of the OG “Chlorophyll” colorway and collaboration with hip-hop superstar Travis Scott, the Air Trainer 1 continues to play a role in the sneaker game. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the model originally launched in 1987 and birthed the cross-training footwear category. Noting the prevalence of gym regulars bringing multiple pairs of shoes tailored to their activities, Hatfield was inspired to create a shoe that could do it all.
Returning to the Air Trainer 1, this “Midnight Navy” edition of the sneaker begins with a white leather upper. A soft gray is then overlaid atop while the “Midnight Navy” strikes the Swoosh, iconic strap and the start of the midsole. Reddish-orange accents land on the branding while a white and gray sole unit complete the look.
Having released already in Europe, the Air Trainer 1 “Midnight Navy” is expected to hit shelves stateside soon at a retail price of $125 USD via Nike and select retailers.
In case you missed it, Nike has introduced a skate-ready edit of the Cortez with the Nike SB Blue Ribbon.
