Virgil Abloh‘s final collection for
The pre-Fall/Winter 2022 collection was “completed and photographed” by Abloh before his death last year. The collection sees Abloh partner with Milan-based tattoo artist Ghusto Leon to bring a contemporary vision to the graffitied suits and fil couple, jacquard and embroidery seen on the workwear. Leon’s signature can be found on the monogrammed shorts and shirts. as well as the quilted bomber featuring a hand-bleached effect.
The collection continues to highlight Abloh’s “boyhood ideology” which he explains in the press notes,
“What makes menswear? Boys do. I believe that building blocks stacked upon each other through our lives form the narrative of what defines menswear.”
While Abloh labels his pieces for this collection as “trendless,” particularly pertaining to the black leather pants and jacket, there is no denying that Abloh has always been at the forefront of what to expect next, be it in fashion or design. His eye for bridging functionality to high fashion has redefined luxury and continues to be a marker today. Take a look above at the first release of Abloh’s Pre-FW22 Louis Vuitton collection, slated to release in stores and online starting April 28.
