Netflix has finally announced the streaming date for the compilation film for season one of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. Scheduled for early May, the compilation film comes more than half a year since its original announcement and almost exactly two years after the debut of the anime‘s first season on Netflix.
Aside from giving old fans the opportunity to relive some of the key moments in the season and new fans a quick and convenient catchup of what has happened in the series thus far, the film will also provide previously unreleased footage to prepare you for the upcoming season.
As for season two of the show, Netflix has currently scheduled its release for May 23. The trailers released so far reveal a new AI entity known as “N,” which becomes the main premise of what Motoko Kusanagi and her crew will be handling in the new episodes. After infecting the cyberbrains of a vast population to create posthumans, N threatens to declare independence for the group, plunging the U.S. into a state of civil war.
For fans of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Netflix will release the compilation film on May 9, followed by season two on May 23.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Amazon is adapting It Takes Two into a movie with Dwayne Johnson potentially starring in the cast.
