Raf Simons' SS22 "School Uniform Bomber" Is Destined for the Future Archive
The $1,650 USD piece is available in two styles from Machine-A now.
Bomber jackets are synonymous with Raf Simons, with the likes of his Fall/Winter 2001 “Riot! Riot! Riot!” offerings wearing the “grail” title for many fashion aficionados and the designer’s work at Prada receiving high praise for the plush leather outerwear. Now, from Simons’ own SS22 collection comes a new style dubbed the “School Uniform Bomber,” and it can safely be said that this is destined to become a future classic.
The bomber comes in two styles, one geared towards a menswear aesthetic and another delivered under a womenswear silhouette. However, regardless of the style you opt for, the jacket wears a Raf Simons tag inside and a small label that denotes the season alongside the word “couture,” marking these pieces among the most special items in the collection. Distinguishing the two bombers apart are the added pleats that run from the chest’s mid-section on the womenswear bomber, and this iteration does not feature the single chest pocket or the “R.SIMONS FLASHES OF A FUTURE ROMANCE” badge that appears on the arm (and elsewhere in his SS22 collection).
However, what you do get is a “Petrol Gray” outerwear staple that’s mottled with cream and bluish-gray hues all over it, sitting alongside leather and silver-toned hardware, black ribbing, and a very distinctive design that screams Raf Simons — even if it is on the subtler side of the collection this time around.
Like Simons’ previous work has shown, his bomber jackets and outerwear is often the route to go down if you wish to invest. Typically timeless, these “School Uniform Bombers” are no exception, and can be bought from retailers such as Machine-A now. Prices start at $1,650 USD for the men’s iteration.
