Salvatore Ferragamo Appoints Maximilian Davis as New Creative Director

Replacing Paul Andrew as a part of the label’s major shakeup.

Salvatore Ferragamo has officially named Maximilian Davis as its new creative director. The London College of Fashion graduate first founded his eponymous brand Maximilian in 2020 and was also shortlisted as one of the 20 semifinalists for this year’s LVMH Prize for Young Designers.

The British fashion designer almost instantly attracted global recognition with the debut of his own label. His design ethos consistently looks towards his Trinidadian-Jamaican origins as an essential part of his creative identity. In a statement announcing his official title, Davis said,

“I am deeply honored to be joining Ferragamo and grateful for the opportunity to build on the rich and profound heritage of the house. Ferragamo represents a dedication to timeless elegance and sophistication that I find incredibly inspiring. I’m looking forward to articulating my vision, elevated by the codes of Italian craftsmanship, quality and innovation.”

Davis joins the heritage Italian luxury fashion house after Paul Andrew’s departure. Marco Gobetti, CEO of Ferragamo complimented Davis’ forefront thinking and his sensibility towards contemporary fashion. He hopes that Davis “will write a new, exciting chapter for this house built on a heritage of creativity, craftsmanship, sophistication, and outstanding human values.” Davis’ appointment comes at a time when Ferragamo is ready to make a change for the modern world of design.
