The 2022 New Balance 2002R "Protection Pack" Colorways are Dropping Soon
Releasing in “Dark Navy,” “Vintage Orange” and “Mirage Grey.”

2021 with another impactful year for New Balance and its lifestyle category, and one of the brand’s more coveted launches of the year was its New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack.” The “Rain Cloud” colorway garnered massive attention from sneakerheads across the globe, so much that it has already nearly tripled its retail price on the resell market. And so to build off of this initiative, the brand is bringing the collection back, this time with a fresh batch of new colorways.
Thanks to European retailer AFEW, we now have a detailed look at what the Boston brand has cooked up. First up is the “Dark Navy” makeup whose nominal hue tumbles over the shoe’s deconstructed overlays while a muted teal dresses up the underlays. Next up is the “Mirage Grey” offering that which applies its titular shade to the suede overlays and a lighter teal blue tone to the toe boxes and collars. The brightest of the bunch is the “Vintage Orange” iteration which is predominantly covered with a duo of orange shadings while doses of white accent through the N logos and midsoles.
AFEW is slated to drop these New Balance 2002R renditions come April 1 for €150 (approx. $165 USD), but expect a stateside New Balance release to go down shortly as well.
