Bakar Releases Virgil Abloh Designed Limited Edition CD Version of Debut Album 'Nobody's Home'
All proceeds will go towards Aboh’s “POST-MODERN” Scholarship Fund.
North London artist Bakar has released a limited edition CD version of his debut album Nobody’s Home.
Limited to only 500 CDs, the CD is designed by Virgil Abloh. All proceeds of the sales will be going toward the late designer’s “POST-MODERN” Scholarship Fund, in support of Black, African-American and African descent students. The foundation continues to strive to foster equity and inclusion in the fashion industry, a cause that Abloh was extremely vocal and passionate about.
Bakar and Abloh have had a long-standing relationship, both sharing similar experiences of being Black creatives paving their own path and establishing their own distinct style in their respective industries. In commemoration of his dear friend and collaborator Virgil Abloh, Bakar releases the CD as a way to reflect on the accomplishments that could be achieved by the next generation of underrepresented creatives. Bakar has walked in both Abloh’s debut and final Louis Vuitton shows. The artist recalls Abloh’s support and influence stating, “A lot of the time we don’t output, there’s a fear thereof not producing perfection. But that’s not what it’s about really. I think that’s what Virgil showed. That there’s so much more beauty in the imperfection along the way. And to show those imperfections. And people really actually warm to those imperfections.”
The CD is released on April 8 and pre-orders are now available.
