John Geiger Turns Nike Lawsuit Documents into NFT Series
Accompanied by physical art pieces.
For its first NFT project, John Geiger is releasing digital imagery of its GF-01 sneaker alongside official Nike lawsuit documents signed by John Geiger himself.
The eponymous label is currently embroiled in a lawsuit, in which Nike is suing the company over GF-01 sneakers’ similarities to the Air Force 1 silhouette. Geiger openly admitted that his shoe was inspired by the AF1, but is actively fighting the lawsuit accusing Nike of a “bullying nature to these actions that chills creativity and lawful competition.” Others note that Nike never brought a lawsuit against BAPE for the BAPESTA which is a clear homage sneaker to the AF1.
“The JG Lawsuit NFT will harness our lawsuit versus Nike, which has created even more of a loyal following as Nike continues to engage in frivolous lawsuits that seem to only be put forth to slow down the momentum of its competition,” states designer John Geiger.
Three editions are available in Gold, Silver, and Bronze, and a physical art piece will come with the purchase along with “real-world products and events to be unlocked along the journey.” adds John Geiger Co-Founder, Sean Davis.
