Already, Jordan Brand has prepared the Air Jordan 5 for an explosive 2023 with new looks such as the “Mars for Her,” university-themed “UNC” and now “Aqua” being teased. The latter, first appearing in October, is laced with history. Pulling from a PE designed for Chris Paul during his time with the New Orleans Hornets, now the New Orleans Pelicans, this “Aqua” colorway revisits the rare color scheme with modern hues. While a Charlotte Hornets-inspired Air Jordan 5 “Hornets” released in 2015, this take favors the retro colors of the original Hornets team.

Kicking things off, a black nubuck upper offers a calm base for the otherwise electric sneaker. It is joined by bright “Aquatone” accents that arrive at the embroidered Jumpman logos found on the tongue and heel, the tongue lining, lace lock, sockliner and semi-translucent portion of the rubber outsole. While black outfits a majority of the midsole, the Air Jordan 5’s signature spike design appears in “Taxi” yellow, rounding out the pair’s key details.

Currently, release for the Air Jordan 5 “Aqua” is expected to take place via Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers at a price of $200 USD on January 21. Enjoy an official look at the pair above and stay tuned for more launch details as 2023 begins.
