Y/Project's Fall 2022 Jean Paul Gaultier Collaboration Has Finally Released
Phallic depictions and chiseled male physiques get the trompe-l’œil treatment.

Jean Paul Gaultier has had its doors open for guest Creative Directors to come in and inject some of their sensibilities into the house for some time now, welcoming the likes of sacai’s Chitose Abe, Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, and soon, Haider Ackermann. But of all of the interns that have joined, Glenn Martens of Diesel and Y/Project fame has to be the best of them all, and now Y/Project‘s Fall 2022 runway collection — made in collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier — has finally, and officially, released.
While some influencers and media personalities have already gotten their hands on key items from the Y/Project x JPG link-up — like Joel Mcloughlin (aka Gallucks) who racked up millions of views with his styling of the suit and the drag queen Violet Chachki — this is the first time you and I can get our hands on the entire collection from Y/Project directly.
As a result, everything from suits to shirts, pants and T-shirts has dropped. Notable inclusions such as the Body Morph blazer and matching pants are it-items, with trompe-l’œil detailing the physique of a muscled torso and male anatomy in both monochromatic and pink/green colorways. Elsewhere, the Body Morph pajama shirt, long-sleeve shirts, and breast-bearing tank tops are perfect examples of Martens’ subversion of JPG house cues, while a take on the Le Male iconography (fit for sailor’s duties) works a variety of tees.
It wouldn’t be Y/Project without some quirky denim, so naturally, the drop also features jeans with asymmetrical hems — inverted on their axis for hips that sport the leather jacron and interior of the jean, while the Body Morph design also adorns a denim jacket.
