Detailed Look at the Stray Rats x New Balance 580 Collection
The streetwear imprint enhances the lifestyle silhouette with its signature vivid color-blocking.
Sportswear brands across the board continue to make collaborations the driving force behind their business, and among them is New Balance which is arguably sitting at the top of the ranks right now in terms of partnerships. In recent memory, we’ve seen the imprint join forces with the likes of Todd Snyder and AURALEE for joint projects, and now we’re seeing it reunite with Stray Rats for another collection. Nearly a year ago we witnessed these two parties team up for a duo of 991s, and now they’re shining a light on the New Balance 580.
The kicks were first teased during Summer 2022, and now we’ve caught a look at both colorways in full detail. When it comes to Stray Rats’ sneaker interpretations, the streetwear label has always shown a penchant for playful color-blocking. This latest capsule is no different as the first iteration is prepared with bursts of purple, green, blue and pink accents throughout the uppers and midsoles. Overlays are dyed in an olive-brownish hue while the underlays are done up in a steel gray.
Its release sibling is engineered with a more fall-appropriate palette as a warm burgundy tone dominates most of the ground while orange, yellow and olive green hits sit adjacent. Subtle pops of purple also get ushered in through the toe boxes and collars. New Balance branding is situated on the tongues and heels while Stray Rats spell-outs are printed in oversized font on the insoles.
No official launch date has been announced yet but New Balance and Stray Rats will likely stagger the collection’s releases.
Elsewhere in footwear, the New Balance 990v6 “Grey” has received a release date.
