Starbucks has opened a new special location in Daegu, South Korea modeled after houses built in the traditional Korean style known as “Hanok.” Daegu, the third largest city in South Korea, is known as an artistic and cultural hub for the region and is recognized as a UNESCO City of Music where both contemporary and classical styles continue to grow and flourish.

Taking inspiration from the city’s architecture and heritage, the new Starbucks store arrives in a unique open layout finish complete with ground seating facing the garden, giwa roofing, exposed wooden beams, and traditional wall paintings. The special design is built to help cool the interiors in summer and retain heat in winter. The store has a total capacity of around 12 and a space is set aside in the store for listening to music, developed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. Starbucks and B&O also jointly created a new Beosound Explore portable Bluetooth speaker which will be sold at the store.
