Following its Wes Anderson-inspired Fall/Winter 2022 range, Hong Kong-based label The World Is Your Oyster has now returned with its Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Expanding its reference outlook, The World Is Your Oyster draws from the designer’s reverence for iconic Soviet-born ballet dancer and choreographer, Rudolf Nureyev.

An enduring muse of the label, the late Rudolf Nureyev stands as a marker of classic and contemporary, strength and gentleness. The dancer was known for the emotion of his dance that exuded the struggles of his life and the love that filled him.

The SS23 collection references Nureyev’s training uniforms, costumes, and personal style for a display of classic elegance, retro style, and a projection of structures both rigid and soft. Standout points include The World Is Your Oyster’s signature strap neck details on the ribbed tank top and T-shirt, along with cut-outs that highlight the human form beneath. While ruffling and stiff bonded lace offer a mixture of shapes that anchor the collection’s theme.
