Palace and Gucci Announce Gucci Vault Exclusive Collection
A special collaboration between Alessandro Michele and Palace Skateboards’ Co-Founders, Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis.
Following the launch of its Phaidon presents Palace Product Descriptions: The Selected Archive book release, Palace Skateboards has returned to announce a major team-up with Gucci. The special collaboration between Alessandro Michele and Palace and its co-founders, Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis, is a meeting of sensibilities that blends elements of the Italian luxury house and uniquely British streetwear imprint.
Drawing from Palace’s archive and Gucci’s cross-generational influence on youth culture, the special range focuses on the “street.” Building on Alessandro Michele’s fascination, the focus develops an expression of “where fashion comes alive,” through clothing and accessories for all genders. Included in the collaboration is also Palace’s debut women’s ready-to-wear designs.
The merging aesthetic languages synonymous with both brands are featured throughout the collection, with the logo, a badge of belonging and symbol of community, explored through a fusing of Gucci’s Double-G and Palace’s Tri-Ferg motifs. Expanding beyond the world of fashion, the two names also put together special lifestyle items like a MOTO GUZZI V7 motorbike and a dual-branded Palace Gucci safe, a reference to Gucci’s “Vault.”
The Palace x Gucci collection will be available exclusively through Gucci Vault, the fashion house’s concept store launched in September 2021. The Gucci Vault will also be rendered in physical form through pop-up stores in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Osaka, and Bangkok, as well as takeovers of Palace stores in London, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, serving as the first time Gucci has ever allowed another creative to reconfigure its cult destinations.
