Procell Co-Founder Jessica Gonsalves and ASICS Present Pearly GEL-Nimbus 9 Collab
The fourth collaboration from the brand’s ASICS Collective.
After dropping collabs with Angelo Baque, Tremaine Emory and Renell Madrano, ASICS has readied the fourth release from their ASICS Collective initiative: a pearly GEL-Nimbus 9 designed in partnership with Procell co-founder Jessica Gonsalves. The past releases pulled from their designers’ personal backstories, and Gonsalves’ sneaker is no different as it draws directly from her family’s love of sailing.
Instead of the cool blue tones and wave patterns you’ll see on any number of ocean-inspired sneakers, the Jessica Gonsalves x ASICS GEL-Nimbus 9 looks to the ocean’s hidden treasures. The high-gloss shades and pearlescent finishes nod directly to the valuable pearls that can be found at the bottom of the sea, while also making for a compelling tonal take on the GEL-Nimbus 9’s late-aughts style. Layered mesh and synthetic leather work with signature GEL cushioning to lock in the look, and Gonsalves’ name is printed on the insoles for a special flourish.
“I’m honored to work with an iconic brand like ASICS,” Gonsalves said. “This shoe represents the vision and inspiration I hoped to share when I learned that I’d be [working on] my first shoe collaboration.” After Gonsalves’ shoe releases, the only ASICS Collective member remaining will be BornxRaised founder Spanto — so it’s an especially interesting time to keep an eye on the line’s workings.
Expect the Jessica Gonsalves x ASICS GEL-Nimbus 9 to release exclusively at Procell in New York City on October 22, then see a global drop via the ASICS webstore and select retailers on October 28. The MSRP is set at $170 USD.
